The Arts

FMA / Kali

Weapons intelligence that upgrades everything. FMA builds angles, footwork, timing, and awareness — then shows you how it carries into empty-hand fighting.

What it is

Filipino Martial Arts (Kali/Escrima/Arnis) trains weapon principles that transfer directly to empty hands.

What it develops

Angles, timing, deception, range management, and immediate awareness of blades and impact weapons.

In practice

Stick and knife fundamentals, flow to pressure, and integration into clinch and striking entries.

How we train it

Lineage & foundation

My Kali emphasis is shaped by Bob Breen (especially stick and knife), with wider integration and influence from Dan Inosanto and the JKD concepts approach.

How we train it

  • Safety first: structure, positioning, and control before speed.
  • Core patterns: high-percentage angles, feeding, and counters.
  • Transfer: hand fighting, entries, and “weapon awareness” in empty-hand contexts.

How it fits the system

Everything is trained for transfer. We pull the highest-value pieces of each art, then test them under progressive pressure. You’ll see how this range connects to the full continuum: awareness → timing → contact → control.

Holistic outcomes

Skill builds confidence. Confidence builds boundaries. Boundaries build calm. Calm makes skill usable.

Next step

If this art is your entry point, we’ll map a training path that connects it to the rest of the system.
